As those who bought our paid picks know, it was another winning night for the fight predictor! Thanks to all those that paid and we’ll have some more buyable picks for UFC Fight Night 52: Hunt vs Nelson up next Friday. Remember as well that we have a bet on the table already for that event, 3 units on Mark Hunt at 1.69 (-145). Overall, we had a decent little profit tonight to start the month of September with 2 straight profits. In the main event, we had a 1 unit bet on the under at 2.35 (+135). We felt there was good value since both Andrei Arlovski and Antonio Silva have shown chin issues in the past and we were absolutely right as Arlovski surprisingly knocked out Bigfoot in the middle of the first round. We profit 1.35 units.
In the co-main event, we had Gleison Tibau to defeat Piotr Hallman. The bet was 3 units at 1.48 (-208). Ultimately, like many people expected, Tibau took the first two rounds with some decent striking and a good clinch game and tired as the second round wore on. The octagon tilted in Hallman’s favour in the third, but not enough for him to get a finish and 2 of 3 judges scored it correctly, 29-28 for Tibau. We profited 1.44 units.
In the middle of the main card, we had Wendell Oliveira to defeat Santiago Ponzinibbio. Unfortunately, that one didn’t turn out in our favour. Even though Oliveira looked like he was doing well, Ponzinibbio snuck in a punch that rocked Oliveira and he was able to capitalize and get the TKO finish. We lost our 3 unit bet.
We only had one paid pick on the main card and that was Jessica Andrade to defeat Larissa Pachecho. Andrade made us look good as she dominated the grappling and locked up a guillotine choke before the end of the first round. The bet was 2 units at 1.98 (-102) so our profit was 1.96 units.
In the “co-main” event of the prelims, we had a 3 unit bet on Igor Araujo to defeat George Sullivan at 1.62 (-161). This was probably a bad bet on our part as Sullivan was all over Araujo in round 1, reigning down ground and pound. Round 2 was more of the same until a punch got through that knocked Araujo silly. Araujo couldn’t recover and Sullivan got the KO finish. We lost our 3 unit bet.
One of two favourite picks that went well on the night was Francisco Trinaldo defeating Leandro Silva. Trinaldo took round 1 in our opinion and round 2 and 3 were clear cut one a piece. The judges agreed with us awarding Trinaldo a unanimous decision victory, 30-27 across the board and we profit 1.80 units.
The only paid pick that didn’t go well on the night was Paulo Thiago over Sean Spencer. It was a 2 unit bet at 2.60 (+160). Like many people were expecting and we thought was a potential issue was that Thiago was primarily looking to land 1 power shot and didn’t really have much else to offer. Spencer appeared to be the faster, fresher fighter throughout and picked up a 30-27 unanimous decision victory. We lose our 2 unit bet.
Our first paid pick of the night was a 2 unit bet on Rani Yahya to defeat Johnny Bedford at 2.31 (+131). This fight actually turned out to be pretty entertaining and you could tell there was some animosity between the two as Yahya went for takedowns instead of touching gloves. The first round was pretty close, but we gave a slight edge to Bedford. The tables turned in the second round as Yahya took top position early and eventually locked up a nasty kimura. We profit 2.62 units.
